Westminster Men's Basketball Wins Team Sportsmanship Award; Wands Brothers on All-Conference Teams

Westminster men's basketball earned the Team Sportsmanship Award for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, voted upon by the league's head coaches. The Award honors the team in the conference that displays exemplary sportsmanship.

This is the fifth consecutive year that the men's basketball team has won the Team Sportsmanship Award, having won it in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.

In addition, Kobe Wands and Carter Wands were placed on All-Conference teams.

K. Wands was the lone Blue Jay named to the SLIAC First Team. As a newcomer to the league after transferring, he averaged 21.3 points per game in league play, which was fifth in the conference. He shot 45.9% from the field, and 43% from behind the arc (fourth in the SLIAC), proving to be one of the league's biggest threats from long range.

K. Wands also dished out 2.5 assists per game and grabbed 4.3 rebounds a game. On the defensive end, he proved to be a threat in Westminster's full-court press, tallying two steals per game.

C. Wands was named to both the SLIAC Second Team and All-Defensive Team. He was one of the league's best passers, creating open looks for his teammates by dishing out five assists per game, which was the fourth-best mark in the league. He also added 6.9 points per game for the Blue Jays.

On the defensive end, C. Wands was the team's top defenders. He was fifth on the team in defensive rebounds per game and fourth in total rebounds. He also led the squad in steals, averaging 2.2 per game for a total of 56, which was third in the SLIAC.

Additionally, Casey McCollum was named to the All-Sportsmanship team, representing the player for Westminster who best displays the ideals of sportsmanship.
