10/22/2025 Fulton, MO – The Westminster men's soccer team continued its strong late-season form with a 2-0 shutout win over Principia on Tuesday evening.
The Blue Jays capitalized on their chances, striking late in each half to secure the road victory. Just before halftime, Matthew Garrone broke the deadlock in the 45th minute, converting a penalty kick to give Westminster a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
In the 73rd minute, Juan Pico-Vazquez doubled the advantage with his third goal of the season, assisted by Nathan Naumann, providing the Blue Jays with breathing room to close out the match.
Defensively, Westminster stood firm despite being outshot 17-9. Goalkeeper Hunter Deeken turned in another strong performance, recording six saves en route to his second consecutive shutout.
With the win, the Blue Jays improve their conference standing and maintain momentum heading into the final stretch of the season. Westminster returns home on Thursday, October 23, to host Spalding at 5:30 p.m.
