11/1/2025 Fulton, MO – The Westminster football team capped off Senior Day in thrilling fashion, pulling off a major upset with a 24-7 win over first-place Greenville University on Saturday afternoon at Kent & Judith Mueller Stadium. The last time the Blue Jays beat Greenville was on October 16, 2021.
The Blue Jays came out strong in all three phases of the game and never trailed. Late in the first quarter, Aidan Szczodroski made a huge impact on special teams, scooping up a blocked punt in the end zone to put Westminster on the board. The defense held firm throughout the first half, and the offense extended the lead just before halftime when Trey Thomas connected with Gabe Dace on a 40-yard touchdown strike to make it 14-0 heading into the break.
After halftime, William Corley added to the lead with a 23-yard field goal early in the third quarter. Greenville managed its only score of the game midway through the period, but Westminster responded with a dominant 20-play, 89-yard drive that drained more than 12 minutes off the clock. The drive was capped by a 9-yard touchdown pass from Thomas to Conner Coffey, sealing the 24-7 victory.
Thomas finished the game completing 13 of 24 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Dace led the receiving corps with three catches for 50 yards and a score, while Coffey added four receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown. Trace Helsel anchored the ground game with 71 rushing yards on 21 carries.
Defensively, Westminster put together one of its best performances of the season, forcing multiple turnovers and recording several key stops. Jeremiah Belizaire had two sacks and two forced fumbles, while Alex Goly grabbed an interception to help shut down Greenville's offense.
With the win, Westminster improves to 3-5 on the season and hands Greenville its second conference loss. The Blue Jays will hit the road next weekend, traveling to Minnesota-Morris on Saturday, November 8, for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
