10/31/2025 | Fulton, MO – Westminster College is proud to announce that
Haylie Schnake, a
standout player from the women's volleyball team, has been named the Westminster College
October Player of the Month. A native of Miller, Missouri, Haylie is a Biochemistry major
with a biological emphasis and an active leader on campus. She serves as Vice President of
Education for Kappa Alpha Theta, President-in-waiting for Alpha Lambda Delta Honors
Society, and as a Residential Advisor, in addition to being a key contributor for the Blue Jays
on the court.
October was a month to remember for Schnake and the Westminster volleyball team. The
Blue Jays went undefeated throughout the month, and Schnake's defensive dominance played
a major role in that success. She recorded an impressive 106 digs in October matches and was
recognized by the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) as Defensive Player
of the Week twice during the month.
Reflecting on the honor, Schnake shared, "Winning Player of the Month is a huge honor, and
I couldn't be more grateful! Being a student-athlete at the collegiate level isn't always the
easiest thing to balance, but the athletes at Westminster always strive to do their best both on
the court and in the classroom. So many athletes across all fall sports teams are doing
amazing things for their teams, so receiving this award is truly a blessing!"
One of the highlights of the season came when Schnake and the Blue Jays earned a statement
win over Greenville, a victory that came on the Panthers' homecoming and senior night.
"That was a big goal for our team," she said. "Seeing our hard work pay off was the best
feeling ever!"
A fellow Westminster student-athlete praised Schnake's all-around excellence, stating, "She
has been an excelling student in the classroom. She has remained involved with the school
community, including being a part of sorority life. On the court, she leads a successful team
as the libero and has been SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week twice this month."
When asked what she values most about her experience as a Blue Jay, Schnake emphasized
the relationships and energy within the program. "My favorite thing about being a part of this
team is the countless laughs and amazing friendships that it brings. We always have so much
fun with each other both on and off the court!"
Outside of volleyball, Schnake enjoys spending time with teammates and friends or studying
for her rigorous major. "I'm a very social person most of the time, so I love spending time
with people," she added.
Schnake also expressed deep appreciation for her coaches and teammates, saying, "I'd like to
thank my coaches and teammates for making me the player and person I am today. Coming
to college and switching positions was definitely an adjustment for me, but the constant
support they've given me has made the transition so much easier."
Haylie Schnake's leadership, work ethic, and defensive excellence have been vital to
Westminster's success this season. Her recognition as a two-time Defensive Player of the
Week and her impact on the Blue Jays' undefeated October showcase her dedication and
drive both on and off the court.
Congratulations to
Haylie Schnake, Westminster College's October Player of the Month
