11/26/2025 Fulton, MO – Westminster men's basketball opened conference play on Tuesday night with a competitive effort against undefeated Webster University but ultimately fell 70–60 inside Westminster Gym. The Blue Jays held a halftime lead, but a strong second-half push by the Gorloks proved to be the difference.
Westminster started the game with energy, using efficient shooting and solid rebounding to take a 28–26 advantage into the break. However, Webster responded with a 44-point second half, capitalizing on turnovers and getting timely scoring to pull away late.
Walker Gohring led all scorers with 19 points, adding 10 rebounds to secure a double-double while shooting 8-for-17 from the field. He knocked down two threes and anchored the Blue Jays offensively. Jamile Johnson continued his consistent play with 10 points and five rebounds, while Kolton Garner added 9 points and hit four free throws. Aidan Temple contributed 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, while also recording two blocks and a steal. Sean LaRose provided a huge spark, scoring 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting. His efficient night kept Westminster within striking distance during the second half. Roman Phillips added 4 points, and Gavin Hendrix chipped in a point and four rebounds.
The Blue Jays held their own on the glass with a 39–35 rebounding edge, including 10 offensive boards, but 20 turnovers and Webster's strong second-half shooting ultimately swung the game in the visitors' favor.
With the loss, Westminster moves to 1–5 overall and 0–1 in SLIAC play. The Blue Jays return to action on Tuesday, December 2, when they host Principia at 7:30 p.m.
