12/17/2025 Fulton, MO - The Westminster women's basketball team wrapped up its West Coast trip Tuesday night, falling 74–53 to Occidental in Los Angeles. The loss moves the Blue Jays to 2–9 overall.
Occidental jumped ahead early with a 23-point first quarter, forcing Westminster to play from behind the rest of the way. Westminster found rhythm offensively in the second and third periods, scoring 17 and 16 points respectively, but couldn't fully close the gap.
Gizelle Carreto led the Blue Jays with 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting, adding six rebounds and three assists. Aly Bullock hauled in a team-high nine rebounds and scored seven points, while Deyja Mayes chipped in six points and three boards. Amonye Allen provided energy off the bench, scoring nine points in 14 minutes on 4-of-7 shooting. Despite strong stretches and balanced contributions, turnovers and shooting struggles limited Westminster's comeback chances.
Westminster will look to regroup after the holiday break when it returns to conference play. The Blue Jays travel to St. Louis to face Webster on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
