2/5/25 Fulton, MO - In an anticipated matchup, the Westminster College women's basketball team showcased their talent with a commanding 99-35 victory over Blackburn on Wednesday. The game served a dual purpose, not only celebrating the talent of the players but also raising awareness for cancer research through the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative, with the theme of suits and sneakers adding an extra layer of significance to the event.
From the opening tip-off, the Blue Jays established dominance. They jumped out to an impressive 19-13 lead at the end of the first quarter and didn't look back. By halftime, Westminster had extended their advantage to a remarkable 54-19, thanks to a relentless offensive and defense effort.
Annette Ramirez led the Blue Jays with a stellar 30 points on 11-of-21 shooting, including five three-pointers. Her performance was complemented by contributions from Avylina Powell-Qualo, who put up 13 points, and Lauren Jones, who added 14 points, providing a balanced scoring attack that kept Blackburn on its heels throughout the game.
