Westminster Sweeps Principia

4/28/25 Fulton, MO - The Westminster softball team got back on track Monday afternoon, sweeping Principia College in a convincing doubleheader at home. The Blue Jays cruised to a 10-0 win in Game 1 before completing the sweep with a 12-1 victory in Game 2.

In the opener, Westminster wasted no time jumping on Principia, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first and five more in the second to put the game out of reach early. The Blue Jays pounded out 12 hits, highlighted by Chloe Ferguson and Felicity Kirby's 2-for-2 performance with four RBIs, including a bases-clearing triple from Ferguson in the first inning. Taylor Engelmeyer also added two hits and two RBIs, while Kendall Weber went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. On the mound, Payton Dudenhoeffer earned the win, tossing three scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Haley Miller finished the game with two strong innings of relief, striking out three without allowing a hit.

The momentum continued into Game 2, as Westminster plated four runs in the first inning, capped by Tatum Bradshaw's three-run homer to left field. The Blue Jays erupted for eight more runs in the third, putting the game firmly out of reach. Weber and Dudenhoeffer each drove in runs, while Morgan Rusley, Carlie Regier, and Angela McQuarrie all added RBI singles during the inning. Madison Plybon picked up the win in the circle, striking out six batters across four innings while allowing just two hits and one run. Miller closed out the fifth inning to secure the mercy-rule victory.

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Saturday, May 3, hosting Mississippi University for Women (MUW) in a special Senior Day doubleheader.
