Blue Jays Split at Central Quad Match

9/10/2025 Fulton, MO – The Westminster volleyball team earned a Wednesday split at the Central College Quad, dropping its opener to Lawrence before responding with an impressive sweep over host Central. 

Match 1 – Lawrence 3, Westminster 0 
Westminster battled throughout but fell in three sets by scores of 25–19, 25–20, and 25–23. The Blue Jays showed offensive balance, with Samantha Hansen leading the way at 8 kills on .571 hitting and Meghan Nolte adding 7 kills at a .429 clip. Landrey VanOverschelde handed out 18 assists while chipping in 10 digs, and Haylie Schnake anchored the back row with 12 digs. Despite late rallies in sets two and three, Westminster was unable to overcome Lawrence's offensive efficiency. 

Match 2 – Westminster 3, Central (Iowa) 0 
The Blue Jays quickly turned the page, sweeping Central 25–22, 25–17, and 25–22. Kylie Hasselbacher led a balanced attack with 11 kills and 2 blocks, while Hansen again played a key role with 9 kills on .471 hitting. Nolte added 5 kills and 3 aces, and VanOverschelde directed the offense with 22 assists. Defensively, Schnake recorded 12 digs, and Paige Rowland contributed 5 kills and 10 digs, giving the Blue Jays a spark on both sides of the ball.  

Westminster returns to action on Friday, Sept. 12, at Ripon, WI for another non-conference matchup.
