9/19/2025 Fulton, MO - The Westminster volleyball team opened conference play on Friday night with a hard-fought match against Spalding, falling in five sets (13–25, 24–26, 25–19, 25–23, 11–15). Despite the setback, the Blue Jays showed resilience by rallying back from a two-set deficit to force a decisive fifth set.
Offensively, Meghan Nolte paced Westminster with 12 kills while hitting .308, followed by Katelynn Jackson with 9 and Paige Rowland with 7. Landrey VanOverschelde kept the attack moving with 20 assists, while Emma Behrmann added 14. From the service line, Behrmann also led the way with four aces, and Haylie Schnake chipped in two more.
On the defensive side, Schnake anchored the back row with 11 digs, while VanOverschelde added 13. At the net, Samantha Hansen contributed seven blocks, and Hannah Luetkemeyer chipped in three block assists to help slow Spalding's offense.
With the loss, Westminster moves to 0–1 in conference play. The Blue Jays return to action this Saturday, Sept. 20, for a home tri-match, facing opponents at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Historic Gym.
