Blue Jays Fall at Blackburn

1/18/2026 Fulton, MO - Westminster women's basketball fell on the road to Blackburn, 82–70, on Saturday afternoon despite a balanced offensive effort and strong stretches throughout the game.

The Blue Jays opened the contest with a solid first quarter, scoring 20 points and keeping pace with the Beavers, who held a slim 22–20 advantage. Blackburn extended its lead in the second quarter behind a 21-point frame, sending Westminster into halftime trailing 43–38. Westminster continued to battle in the third, but Blackburn's 21-point quarter again proved to be the difference, pushing the deficit to double digits heading into the final period. The Blue Jays added 17 points in the fourth quarter but were unable to close the gap.

Gizelle Carreto led Westminster with 13 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting, adding six rebounds. Deyja Mayes and Evalena Claxton each scored 12 points, with Claxton also pulling down six rebounds.
