1/23/2026 Fulton, MO - The Westminster women's basketball team put together a complete performance on Thursday night, defeating Lyon 69–56 to improve to 6–10 overall and 6–2 in SLIAC play.
The Blue Jays set the tone early, building a 21–13 lead after the first quarter and extending their advantage to 36–24 by halftime. Westminster continued to control the tempo in the second half, answering every Lyon run and closing strong with a 17-point fourth quarter to secure the win.
Gizelle Carreto led the Blue Jays with 13 points while also adding four assists. Evalena Claxton was highly efficient, scoring 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting and pulling down nine rebounds. Deyja Mayes contributed 10 points and six rebounds, providing steady production on both ends of the floor. Aly Bullock was dominant on the boards, finishing with a team-high 12 rebounds to go along with six points and two assists. Reagan Chigas added nine rebounds, helping Westminster control the glass with a 57– rebound team total. Mariah Mayfield knocked down a three-pointer and finished with eight points, while Amonye Allen added six points off the bench on efficient shooting.
Westminster's depth played a key role, with contributions throughout the lineup and consistent defensive pressure that held Lyon to just 56 points. The Blue Jays will look to carry their momentum into their next matchup on Saturday, Jan. 31, when they take on Eureka.
