1/4/2026 Fulton, MO - The Westminster women's basketball team opened the new year with a strong 67–45 road victory over Webster on January 3, improving to 3–9 overall and 3–1 in SLIAC play.
Westminster set the tone early, jumping out to a 24–13 lead after the first quarter. Although the pace slowed in the second period, the Blue Jays maintained control at halftime and responded to a third-quarter push by Webster with a decisive 21-point frame to regain momentum.
Gizelle Carreto led all scorers with 18 points, shooting 6-of-13 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line, while also pulling down eight rebounds. Aly Bullock posted a double-double effort with 12 points and nine rebounds to go along with four assists, anchoring the Blue Jays on both ends of the floor. Evalena Claxton provided an efficient scoring spark, finishing with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Reagan Chigas and Deyja Mayes each added eight points, with Chigas dishing out four assists and Mayes contributing six rebounds.
Westminster dominated the glass with a 46–34 rebounding advantage and shared the ball well, recording 19 assists on 27 made field goals. The Blue Jays' defensive pressure forced turnovers and limited Webster to just 45 points on the night. Westminster returns to action on Saturday, January 10, when it travels to Spalding University for its next matchup.
