1/9/2026 | Fulton, MO – Westminster College is proud to announce Walker Gohring of the Blue Jay men's basketball team as the December Player of the Month. A Fulton, Missouri native, Gohring is dual majoring in Business Communication and Sports Management and continues to make a major impact both on the court and within the program.

December was a strong month for Gohring, whose consistency and leadership helped propel the Blue Jays through a challenging stretch of the schedule. As of December, he ranked third in the conference in scoring and fourth in assists, while also leading Westminster in overall averages. His production and poise were especially evident in the team's statement win over Loras College, a nationally ranked top-40 opponent.

Gohring described that victory as a defining moment of the month. "Helping beat Loras College, a highly ranked national team at home is a key moment of my hard work of this past month," he said.

Over five games in December, Gohring showcased his all-around game, averaging 18.0 points per game, while shooting efficiently from the floor and stretching defenses from beyond the arc. His standout performance came against Loras, where he poured in 33 points, knocked down six three-pointers, and added eight assists in a complete performance that fueled one of Westminster's biggest wins of the season.

His December stat highlights included:
• 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting at Eureka
• 33 points and 8 assists vs. Loras
• Multiple games of high-efficiency shooting and playmaking leadership

Reflecting on the honor, Gohring shared, "Winning Player of the Month to me means that my hard work and dedication to my sport is continuing to pay off."

Teammates were quick to praise his impact, noting, "Great leader, best averages on our team in general and for the month specifically. Led us to a win over a top 40 team in the country." When asked what he enjoys most about being part of the team, Gohring pointed to the relationships within the locker room. "My favorite part about being part of this team is the camaraderie between us all. There is never a dull moment!"

Outside of basketball, Gohring values time away from the court. "I like to spend my free time with family and friends. I most enjoy relaxing and being a kid, as well as strengthening my mind through reading and writing," he said.

He also reflected positively on the team experiences that defined the month beyond game nights. "Playing basketball is always a plus, but the time off the court this month with Christmas and our trip to Memphis were great experiences with the team," Gohring added.

Walker Gohring's leadership, production, and maturity continue to set the tone for Blue Jay men's basketball. His December performance exemplifies what it means to be a Westminster student-athlete.
