1/31/2026 Fulton, MO - The Westminster College men's basketball team came up just short in a tightly contested SLIAC matchup, falling 71–69 to Eureka on Saturday, January 31.
Eureka held a slim 38–34 lead at halftime, but the Blue Jays responded with a strong second half, outscoring the Red Devils 35–33 over the final 20 minutes. Despite the late push, Westminster was unable to complete the comeback as Eureka held on for the two-point win.
Walker Gohring led all scorers with 23 points, shooting 8-of-15 from the field and knocking down four free throws. Sean LaRose added 15 points on an efficient 6-of-11 shooting night, while Kolton Garner finished with 10 points and Isaac Busch chipped in nine. Jamile Johnson anchored the Blue Jays on the glass with a double-double effort, pulling down 12 rebounds to go along with seven points and three assists. Westminster finished with 37 total rebounds and forced Eureka into a competitive, physical contest throughout the night.
The loss moves Westminster to 6–14 overall and 2–8 in SLIAC play. The Blue Jays will look to bounce back at home on Friday, February 7, when they host Spalding University at 3:00 p.m.
