Blue Jays Lose Single-Game Set At Wash U

3/24/2026 St. Louis, MO– Washington University has become a yearly matchup for the Blue Jays. Wash U is currently ranked No. 12 in DIII nationally; the Jays needed to put up their best fight in this out-of-conference matchup to secure a win and put an end to their three-game losing skid.

The Jays started the game playing great small ball. Troy Romero led off the game with an infield single, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and was eventually driven in by Caleb Warren's single. Wash U bounced right back in the bottom half, however, scoring an unearned run to tie things up. They scored two more runs in the third, one of which came from another error, the other off the back of a double. This inning would run lefty starter Blake Althuisius from the game. The story of the rest of the game for the Blue Jays was poor defense and struggling to keep the ball inside the ballpark. The Jays ended the game with four errors, and Wash U capitalized on every one of them, scoring five unearned runs. Two homers added insult to injury for the Jays as well. Against a top-ranked opponent such as Wash U, there is little room for error; the Jays made too many to keep up with the Wash U. Westminster would drop this one, with a final score of 4-12.

Their next game, the home opener, will be Saturday, the 28th, against Webster. It will be the start of a three-game conference series.
