April 3rd, 2026/Fayette, MO - The Westminster men's track & field team traveled to Central Methodist University for the second time in three weeks to compete in the two-day CMU Invite on Thursday, April 2nd and Friday, April 3rd. Five athletes competed on the first day, highlighted by freshman
Levi Casey making his collegiate debut. Casey cleared 4.05 meters in the pole vault, finishing fifth overall and breaking the modern program record; the mark also currently ranks third on the SLIAC outdoor leaderboard.
Elsewhere in the field, freshman
Lee Ivy III made his outdoor debut, throwing 35.96 meters in the hammer throw. Fellow freshman Nik Thieman took home fourth place in the javelin throw, narrowly missing his season-best throw.
The Blue Jays had more athletes compete on both the track and in the field on Friday. Thieman made his outdoor season debut in the high jump, clearing a collegiate-best mark of 1.81 meters, good for second in modern program history. On the runway, freshman
Chase Arnold set a new personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 12.40 meters, and freshman Alden Kimlinger made his collegiate debut in the long jump.
On the track, both Arnold and sophomore
Weston Jennings set season-best marks in the 100-meter dash; Jennings' time of 11.66 moved him up to fifth in modern program history. Freshman
Levi Brandt dropped a massive personal best (2:15.92) in the 800, and junior
Makel McFarland made his season debut in the 400.
In the field, Ivy and freshman Vincent Howard both competed in the shot put on Friday; Ivy's outdoor debut performance of 12.66 meters placed him fourth on the modern program leaderboard. Howard also competed in the discus, throwing a season-best 31.11 meters.
The Blue Jays compete on Saturday, April 18th, at Culver-Stockton University, in what will be their final meet before the SLIAC Championship on April 24th-25th.
