Obi Agomo, a Chicagoland native, is the next head men’s basketball coach at Westminster College (MO). He arrives after spending the last four seasons asthe assistant men’s basketball coach at DePauw University (IN) with a 61-44 overall record. During his time at DePauw, Agomo helped coach and develop eight all-conference performers, including three receiving first team honors and one being named national player of the week. As the defensive coordinator for the program, he helped guide the team for four straight seasons as leaders in defensive rebounding.
Prior to arriving at DePauw, Agomo spent the past 5 seasons as the assistant men’s basketball coach at Central College (IA). During his time at Central, he helped the program advance to the conference tournament final in 2018, while coaching ten all-conference performers. He also recruited and developed a three-time All-American. Agomo served two seasons at Lisle High School (IL) coaching the boys basketball program with a 34-14 overall record. He also worked with the Chicago Bulls Youth Academy as a private instructor and AAU coach.
A four-year international career sent Agomo around the world. Playing in 10 different countries on five different continents. He was drafted 24th overall by the London Lightning of the National Basketball League of Canada in 2012. In 2013, Agomo played for the Nigerian National Team and was selected on the all-star team in Kosovo.
He later received a Master’s degree in Education-Coaching from his alma mater, Greenville University in 2018. In 2011, Agomo graduated from Greenville University with a degree in Sports Management. During his time, he was named team captain in 2010-11. He averaged 12.4 points and 6.5 rebounds. He was selected on the all defensive team in 2010 & 2011. He also received all-conference honors in 2011 and led the SLIAC in offensive rebounding with 2.5 per game. Agomo and his wife Hannah are proud parents to their three children, Malakai,Gianna and Gabriella
