10/19/2025 Fulton, MO – The Westminster football team couldn't overcome a strong rushing performance from Crown College, falling 19-6 on Saturday afternoon in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play.
Crown struck first midway through the opening quarter with a 13-yard touchdown pass. The Blue Jays answered early in the second quarter with a quick three-play, 32-yard drive capped by a 22-yard touchdown strike from Trey Thomas to Keegan Zdybel to even the score at 6-6.
However, the Blue Jays were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities the rest of the way. Crown broke free for a 70-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter to regain the lead for the Polars, then added a 3-yard touchdown in the fourth to seal the win.
Quarterback Trey Thomas led the Westminster offense, completing 16 of 28 passes for 130 yards and one touchdown. Zdybel was his top target, hauling in six catches for 78 yards and the Blue Jays' lone score. On the ground, Trace Helsel paced Westminster with 40 yards on six carries, averaging 6.7 yards per attempt. Defensively, the Blue Jays limited Crown's passing game but struggled to contain the rushing attack.
Westminster (2-4) will return home next Saturday, October 25, to take on Martin Luther at 12 p.m. at Kent & Judith Mueller Stadium.
