11/26/2025 Fulton, MO – Westminster women's basketball opened conference play on Tuesday night but came up short against a tough Webster University squad, falling 65–45 inside Westminster Gym. Despite a strong defensive effort on the glass, turnovers and cold shooting stretches proved costly for the Blue Jays.
Webster set the tone early, limiting Westminster to six first-quarter points and building a 16–6 advantage. The Blue Jays responded with a better offensive rhythm in the second quarter, but the Gorloks maintained control and carried a 31–22 lead into halftime. Westminster continued to battle in the second half, but Webster's balanced scoring and pressure defense allowed the visitors to slowly extend their lead.
Mariah Mayfield and Gizelle Carreto led the Blue Jays with 11 points each. Mayfield knocked down three triples and added four rebounds, while Carreto delivered an efficient 4-for-10 performance from the field and tallied three assists and two steals. Reagan Chigas provided a strong presence in the paint with nine points and six rebounds across 35 minutes. Evalena Claxton chipped in four points and four boards, and Aly Bullock collected a team-high eight rebounds while contributing defensively with three steals. Amonye Allen sparked Westminster with six points and nine rebounds, helping the Blue Jays win the rebounding battle 41–40.
With the loss, Westminster moves to 0–6 overall and 0–1 in SLIAC play. The Blue Jays will look to regroup next week when they face Principia at home on Tuesday, December 2 at 5:30 p.m.
