11/4/2025 Fulton, MO - The Westminster volleyball team showed resilience on Tuesday night, splitting its home doubleheader with Nebraska Wesleyan. After falling 3-0 in the opener, the Blue Jays regrouped to earn a 3-1 victory. The results move Westminster to 26-6 overall, maintaining strong momentum as they prepare for their final regular season tri-match at Spalding on Saturday, November 8, against Spalding and Greenville.
In the first match, Nebraska Wesleyan controlled the pace from start to finish, taking the sets 25–13, 25–22, and 25–19. Westminster struggled to find consistency on the attack, hitting just .031 as a team. Paige Rowland led the offense with seven kills and two aces, while Katelynn Jackson added six kills and seven digs. Landrey VanOverschelde guided the offense with eight assists and eight digs, and Samantha Hansen and Makenzie Sansone each contributed solid efforts at the net.
The Blue Jays bounced back in the second match with a statement performance, defeating Nebraska Wesleyan in four sets (21–25, 25–20, 25–20, 25–23). The offense came alive, hitting with better rhythm and balance across the front row. Kylie Hasselbacher and Rowland powered the attack with 11 and 10 kills while Meghan Nolte added seven kills on an efficient .316 hitting percentage. Jackson also finished with 10 kills and 13.5 points, providing key swings in the late sets.
VanOverschelde distributed the ball well, totaling 15 assists, while Liv Hart chipped in 14 assists and 11 digs from the setter position. Hansen was a force defensively with five block assists and one solo block, while Haylie Schnake anchored the backcourt with 18 digs and a service ace.
The win capped a strong response to a tough first match and gave Westminster another quality non-conference victory heading into the postseason push. The Blue Jays will now turn their focus to Saturday's Spalding Tri-Match, where they'll face both Spalding and Greenville to close out the regular season before the SLIAC Tournament.
