11/8/2025 Fulton, MO - The Westminster volleyball team wrapped up its regular-season conference slate on Saturday with a dominant sweep over Spalding followed by a tightly contested four-set battle with Greenville in the second match of the tri. The Blue Jays now close conference play at 12-2 and move to 27-7 overall heading into next week's SLIAC Tournament.
Westminster opened the day in commanding fashion, defeating Spalding 25-10, 25-14, 25-17. The offense was efficient from the start, hitting .418 as a team and spreading production across the lineup. Paige Rowland led the charge with 11 kills on .409 efficiency while also adding three service aces and three block assists to finish with 15 points. Meghan Nolte was equally impressive with eight kills on a match-high .538 hitting percentage, and Katelynn Jackson added seven kills, two blocks, and 16 digs in a strong two-way performance. Landrey VanOverschelde and Emma Behrmann directed the offense with 13 and 16 assists respectively as the Blue Jays controlled the tempo throughout the match. Defensively, Haylie Schnake anchored the back row with 10 digs, and Westminster held Spalding to just eight kills total across three sets.
The second match of the day featured a showdown of two conference leaders, with Westminster falling to Greenville 15-25, 25-21, 21-25, 26-28 in a hard-fought four-set thriller. After dropping the opening set, the Blue Jays responded with a sharp second-set win behind balanced hitting and strong defense. Westminster remained competitive in each of the final two frames, forcing extra points in the fourth set before Greenville narrowly closed out the match.
Meghan Nolte once again led the offense with 11 kills on .478 hitting, while Makenzie Sansone delivered an efficient eight kills on .538. Rowland added eight kills and two aces, and Samantha Hansen finished with nine kills and a block to round out Westminster's attack. VanOverschelde paced the Blue Jays with 29 assists, five kills, and 10 digs in a standout all-around effort. Schnake continued her consistent day in the back row with another solid defensive performance, and Hannah Luetkemeyer totaled 13 digs to help keep rallies alive.
Despite the split, Westminster closed conference play with momentum and remains one of the league's top contenders heading into the SLIAC Tournament. The Blue Jays now turn their attention fully toward postseason play as they prepare for next week's conference bracket.
