11/8/2025 Fulton, MO – The Westminster women's basketball team opened its 2025–26 campaign on the road Friday evening, falling 69–43 to Rhodes College inside Mallory Gymnasium.
After a slow offensive start that saw the Blue Jays score eight points in each of the first two quarters, Westminster battled to find rhythm in the second half, posting an 18-point third quarter. However, Rhodes' consistent scoring and defensive pressure proved too much to overcome.
Amonye Allen led the Blue Jays with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting while adding seven rebounds. Mariah Mayfield chipped in 10 points, including a pair of threes, and had eight rebounds. Jamie Peffer finished with eight points and six rebounds, and Aly Bullock and Deyja Mayes each added four.
Gizelle Carreto provided a team-high four assists and five rebounds, while Hana Neuman contributed four points and two assists. Westminster controlled the glass at times, collecting 40 rebounds.
The Blue Jays (0-1) will look to bounce back quickly as they get ready for their next matchup against University of the Ozarks on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m.
