11/8/2025 Fulton, MO – Westminster fought until the final whistle on Saturday afternoon, but an early offensive surge from Minnesota Morris proved to be the difference as the Blue Jays fell 14–7 on the road.
After a quiet opening drive from both teams, Minnesota Morris capitalized on field position to strike first, going ahead 7–0 midway through the first quarter. The Cougars extended their lead early in the second with a 19-yard touchdown pass to make it 14–0.
The Blue Jays answered with their best drive of the half, engineering an 11-play, 59-yard march capped by a 3-yard touchdown pass from Trey Thomas to Conner Coffey. Westminster's defense followed with several key stops, keeping the Cougars scoreless for the remainder of the game.
While Westminster continued to move the ball throughout the second half, drives stalled in Minnesota Morris territory, preventing the Blue Jays from finding the equalizer.
Quarterback Trey Thomas finished 18-of-37 for 223 yards and a touchdown, while Gabe Dace added a 43-yard completion on a gadget play and totaled 60 receiving yards. Coffey led the receiving corps with six catches for 96 yards and the team's lone touchdown. Trace Helsel paced the ground game with 64 rushing yards on 19 carries.
Defensively, Westminster turned in a gritty performance, highlighted by standout efforts from Alex Goly (9 tackles), Jason Colonius (8 tackles, 1.0 TFL), and Jeremiah Belizaire, who delivered 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, and a fumble recovery. The Blue Jays tallied 9.5 tackles for loss as a unit and held Minnesota Morris scoreless for the final 30 minutes.
Westminster will close out the 2025 season next Saturday, November 15, traveling to host Northwestern. Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m.
