12/6/2025 Fulton, MO – Westminster women's basketball put together a strong all-around performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating Eureka 74–58 to earn back-to-back conference wins and improve to 2–6 overall, 2–1 in SLIAC play. A dominant fourth quarter sealed the victory, as the Blue Jays outscored the Red Devils 24–8 in the final frame.
The game was competitive through three quarters, with Westminster holding a narrow 50–48 lead heading into the final 10 minutes. From there, the Blue Jays took control behind efficient shooting, active defense, and a significant edge on the glass.
Mariah Mayfield and Gizelle Carreto led Westminster with 16 points each. Mayfield knocked down three threes and added four rebounds and two steals, while Carreto delivered a perfect 8-for-8 night from the field and grabbed six rebounds. Aly Bullock was a force on both ends, recording a 12-rebound, 9-point, 4-assist performance that set the tone defensively. Reagan Chigas added 9 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal in another steady effort, and Evalena Claxton scored 6 points with five boards. Amonye Allen gave the Blue Jays valuable minutes and finished with 7 points and 6 rebounds. Deyja Mayes added 5 points and 3 assists, while Evelyn Valero contributed 4 points and two offensive rebounds.
Westminster dominated the glass with 51 total rebounds, including 13 offensive boards, and posted 19 assists on 30 made field goals. The Blue Jays' defensive pressure forced 15 Eureka turnovers and held the Red Devils to just eight points in the fourth quarter.
With the win, Westminster continues to climb in the conference standings as momentum builds heading into a challenging nonconference matchup. The Blue Jays return to action on Monday, December 8, when they travel to Washington University in St. Louis for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
