9/28/25 Fulton, MO – The Westminster men's soccer team opened conference play on Saturday with a hard-fought 0–0 draw on the road at Eureka.
The Blue Jays created plenty of opportunities throughout the match, finishing with 16 shots and five on goal. Jack Hughes, Lucas Sottile, and Nathan Naumann each put pressure on the Eureka back line, while Juan Pico-Vazquez came off the bench to add a shot on frame.
Defensively, Westminster stood strong. Goalkeeper Hunter Deeken anchored the back line, going the full 90 minutes and recording four saves to secure the shutout. The Blue Jay defense, led by Khamani Matallah and Braedon Cairer, limited quality chances and kept Eureka off the scoreboard.
Westminster (5–3–1, 0–0–1 SLIAC) will look to build on the point earned in their conference opener when they return home to host Blackburn on Wednesday, October 1, at 5 p.m.
