2/14/2026 Fulton, MO – The Westminster women's basketball team used a dominant fourth quarter to secure a 76-62 victory over Blackburn on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 8-13 overall and 8-5 in SLIAC play.
Blackburn jumped out to a 24-19 lead after the first quarter, but Westminster chipped away in the second to trail just 34-33 at halftime. The Blue Jays began to take control in the third quarter, outscoring Blackburn 19-15, before putting the game away with a 24-point fourth quarter to seal the 14-point win.
Deyja Mayes led the way with 18 points on an efficient 8-of-12 shooting performance, while also adding seven rebounds and two steals. Gizelle Carreto followed with 17 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc and going a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Aly Bullock controlled the glass with a double-double effort, pulling down 10 rebounds to go along with eight points, four blocks, and three assists. Jamie Peffer contributed six points and a team-high five assists, while Evalena Claxton and Mariah Mayfield each added eight points.
Westminster will return home on Monday, Feb. 16, when they host MUW.
