2/21/2026 Fulton, MO – The Westminster women's basketball team closed out conference play with an 85-71 victory over Lyon on Saturday, securing the No. 3 seed in the SLIAC Tournament. The Blue Jays finish the regular season 10-14 overall and 10-6 in conference play. 

After a tight 17-17 first quarter, Westminster took control in the second, outscoring Lyon 28-13 to carry a 45-30 lead into halftime. The Blue Jays continued to apply pressure in the third with 22 points and held off a late push in the fourth to seal the 14-point win. 

Westminster showcased balanced scoring with four players reaching double figures. Aly Bullock and Mariah Mayfield each led the way with 16 points. Bullock added seven rebounds, while Mayfield knocked down two three-pointers and went 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. Evalena Claxton provided a major spark, pouring in 16 points on an efficient 8-of-13 shooting performance while grabbing five rebounds. Deyja Mayes contributed 12 points on a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and added five rebounds. Reagan Chigas finished with nine points and seven rebounds, and Jamie Peffer added six points and six boards. As a team, Westminster shot 29-of-61 from the field and converted 24 free throws while pulling down 44 rebounds. 

With the win, the Blue Jays earned the No. 3 seed in the SLIAC Tournament and will host Greenville in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m.
