2/8/2026 Dubuque, IA – The Westminster College men's wrestling team traveled to Dubuque, Iowa on Sunday to compete at the Brown Terrell UD Invite.
Isaac Gawronski turned in a third-place finish at 133 pounds, scoring 15 team points for the Blue Jays. After receiving a first-round bye, Gawronski pinned Geovanny Merriman (University of Dubuque) in just 17 seconds in the quarterfinals. He rebounded from a semifinal loss to claim third place by medical forfeit in the consolation final.
At 165 pounds,
Michael Roberts delivered one of the top performances of the tournament, finishing second and totaling 19.5 team points. Roberts recorded three bonus-point victories on his path to the championship match, including two pins and a technical fall, before falling to Clayton McDonough (Luther) in the title bout.
Drake Schmidt competed at 141 pounds, earning 2.5 team points. After a narrow decision loss in the opening round, Schmidt responded with a 15–0 technical fall in the consolation bracket before his run ended in the consolation semifinals.
Also at 165 pounds,
Levi Casey picked up a win by decision and added 2.0 team points for Westminster before being eliminated in consolation action.
At 184 pounds, Geoffrey Hudson battled through both championship and consolation rounds, while
Thomas Tempest represented the Blue Jays at 197 pounds, gaining valuable experience against tough competition.
The Blue Jays will be back in action on February 14
th to compete in the SLIAC conference championships in Eureka, Illinois.
