Westminster Softball Splits Day Two in Florida

3/20/2026 Fulton, MO - Westminster softball continued its spring break trip in Clermont with a split on day two, falling in the opener before erupting offensively in a dominant game two victory.

In the first game, Westminster dropped a 7-3 decision despite collecting nine hits. The Blue Jays got on the board in the second inning when Paige Cruzan reached on an error to bring home Maddie Clubb. They added another run in the third behind a Chloe Ferguson RBI triple, and Cruzan later highlighted the seventh inning with a triple and run scored. Ellie Schisler led the offense with two hits, while Gabriella Pierre, Taylor Engelmeyer, and Ellie Bedsworth each added one. Madison Plybon pitched a complete game, allowing four earned runs while striking out five.

Westminster responded in a big way in game two, exploding for 18 runs on 21 hits in a commanding win. The offense came alive early, plating eight runs in the second inning alone, highlighted by RBI hits from Ellie Schisler, Carlie Regier, Taylor Engelmeyer, and a two-run double from Amber Dierling. The Blue Jays continued to pour it on, adding three runs in the fourth and seven more in the sixth. Paige Cruzan finished with three runs and a triple, while Gabriella Pierre went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Schisler and Engelmeyer each tallied three hits and multiple RBIs, and Dierling added four hits and two RBIs in a standout performance. Westminster showcased its depth with nine players recording hits and aggressive baserunning throughout. In the circle, Lilli Anne Readenour earned the win, tossing 3.2 innings, while Payton Dudenhoeffer provided solid relief to close out the game.

Westminster will look to carry its offensive momentum into the remainder of the trip, returning to action in Florida on Sunday, March 22.
