3/28/2026 Columbus, MS– The Westminster softball team, coming off an eight-game trip to Florida where they played .500 softball, now found themselves in Columbus, Mississippi, playing two against Mississippi University for Women. Freshman
Madison Plybon was the starting pitcher in the first game for the Jays. She pitched the entire game, only giving up three, all coming in the bottom of the sixth. The offense couldn't back her up, though, only putting together two hits all game and failing to score. The Blue Jays would lose this one 0-3.
Game 2. L 5-8
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Westminster offense changed the pace they set in the first game, scoring three in the first coming from Carlie Regier and
Chloe Ferguson's RBI doubles.
Lilli Anne Readenour took the mound for the Jays. The freshman was roughed up early. Readenour gave up two runs in her only inning of work. Westminster would respond, though, scoring two more runs in the third to extend their lead.
Peityn Thomas relieved Readenour, cruising through the Owls' offense, giving up just one run over 4.2 innings of work. In the seventh, now with
Madison Plybon back on the mound, MUW rallied to put up six runs and shockingly win the game on a walk-off three-run homer. The Jays lost this one 5-8 and were swept in the series.
